The Weirdest Thing Just Happened

April 6, 2013

I was just in the middle of posting on this fantastic blog when a friend text me asking how I was. I replied: ‘I’ve been blogging, marketing and writing’. To which he replied: ‘Busy day then, I hope it all leads to something’. I replied: ‘Well I have just seen this fascinating youtube about depression and its link to expectation so I need to write for the joy of writing and no more – to prevent the horrendous dips. Easier said than done!’.

Just in case you missed it – I just identified a causal factor in depression – I then identified and put into action – a solution/coping strategy.

My friend replied: ‘Not all youtubes are right/good you know’.

Hmmm.

I pushed him a little further, I told him that I had great respect for the guy who was being interviewed. His reply was:

‘Hmmm, I’ll take your word for it’.

DOES THIS RING A BELL FOR YOU?

Do you think this is supportive? It is – and it isn’t.

I find it fascinating that friends (and family if you have family) can be INCREDIBLE when you are in crisis, but then just as you clamber out of the pit of despair and into (slightly) greener pastures – the SAME friends/family – Try to knock you back into it!

There is a reason (I believe) for that –

BUT I’M NOT GONG INTO IT.

All I am blogging today for is this –

TODAY, I KNOW WHO I AM.

That may result in something – it may result in jack shit – but today:

Is enough.

🙂

2013 – The year for Action. Take action – be yourself. Who else?

  1. Families can be wonderful and horrifying, all at once! 🙂 Stay strong, and don’t let the, get to you. They are speaking from a place of love, even if it’s not entirely helpful at the time 😉

    • It was a friend, but the same applies, thank you. We all say the most ‘helpful’ words we can at the time, never really knowing I guess – if it is indeed helpful!

Thanks again for your comment 🙂

  2. Thank you for your wonderful blog! Your journey is one that a lot of people go through, and it’s comforting to know that we are not alone.
