The Insanity Of Being Sane

April 24, 2013

There’s a guy called Chogyam Trungpa… or rather, there was – he died some years ago but his work remains. He wrote one book called Crazy Wisdom and the title always intrigued me because I always felt pretty crazy and yet since my very early years – people have always said things like: ‘You have a wisdom beyond your years’ ‘You are so wise’ ‘You are like a prophet’ and I got to thinking:

Are Crazy People Really Sane???

I posted a prose piece some while back called ‘Gandhi in a Bum’s Clothes’ which was actually inspired by a real interaction I had with a Homeless Guy in Manchester UK – the guy appeared to be barking mad, but he looked straight at me and said: ‘Change the world, just by being here!’. I got goosebumps.

So maybe it is actually the ‘ugliness’ that we see in day to day life – the insanity, the suffering, the pain, ‘negativity’, soul searching, homelessness, alcoholism, ‘poor’ mental health – THE TRUTHS – that are actually the Wisdom within our worlds, our societies, our communities and homes.

Maybe. Just Maybe –

Crazy People Are The Wise One’s Whom Walk Among Us.

Ponder that for a while.
